Process Benchmarking
Sometimes you need to prove to your customers that your processes are above the ones of your competitors.
There are many process benchmarks, but maybe the most comprehensive is the one based on Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI).
CMMI is available from the CMMI Institute and can be used to guide process improvement across a project, a division, or an entire organization when developing products (CMMI-DEV), delivering services (CMMI-SVC) or acquiring products and services (CMMI-ACQ).
Published Appraisal Results
From all the organizations which used CMMI models to improve their processes, around 5,000 performed an appraisal and disclosed the results in the Published Appraisal Results site in the last three years.
Less than 10% of those companies achieved maturity level 5, also called the optimizing level.
Some of the organizations that achieved the top level of maturity and published their appraisal results are: Accenture, Allianz, Atos, Boeing, Capgemini, Dell, Deloitte, El Corte Inglés, Ericsson, Everis, Fujitsu, GMV, Hewlett-Packard, Honeywell, IBM, Indra, Microsoft, Oracle, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Raytheon, Tecnocom, Toshiba…
